Hard to believe that after a calm fjord and a peaceful mushroom hunt, it was time for… pure force! 💨
Norwegian waterfalls don’t murmur — they thunder, as if they have something to say to anyone standing too close. The ground trembles under your feet, the air smells of moss, and the mist rises like steam from a giant’s kettle.
We set off from our little house by the fjord — the plan was simple: a few hours of hiking, a couple of cascades, and back in time for lunch.
Except Norway has plans of its own.
Instead of a quick trip, it turned into a full-day adventure — full of awe, roaring water, and light dancing across the rocks.
And the boots? Dry as ever — a miracle of nature or just really good waterproof gear 😎

🌈 Rainbow, mist, and adrenaline

The first one — monumental, as if someone had opened the sky and forgotten to turn off the tap 💦
Sunlight reflects off the rocks, and a rainbow dances in the air — the real kind, not the Instagram version.
We stood there with our mouths open, and within a minute we were completely soaked — mist and water spraying over everything: the camera, glasses, our faces.
But who would care, when it looked like a scene from a fantasy movie.

Once we finished laughing and shaking half the waterfall off ourselves, we sat down a little farther away — still wearing that goofy expression that stays after something unbelievably beautiful.
The air smelled fresh, and everything sparkled like after a detergent commercial 😅
The sun came out again from behind the clouds and turned the scene into something magical — droplets in the air glittered like confetti, and the roar of the water… well, that simply can’t be described.
It was one of those moments when you don’t say anything. You just sit and take it all in. Because you know no photo will ever say it better than the silence after awe.

🔎 Fun facts from the land of waterfalls

🌊 There are more than 900 waterfalls in Norway!
Some are just a few meters high, others exceed 600. The famous Vøringsfossen drops 182 m and even has its own… glass viewing platform!

💨 Mist from a waterfall is a natural skin moisturizer.
Seriously — after an hour walking in that mist, you look like you’ve just stepped out of a spa. Norwegians supposedly know this and treat waterfalls like free skincare.

🌈 Rainbows appear almost every day.
All it takes is sunshine and the right angle — and there it is! The water acts like a natural prism. No wonder local kids say that “the rainbow lives in the waterfall.”

🐑 Sheep here have more freedom than people.
Seriously — they go wherever they want. Sometimes they block traffic on the roads or pose for tourists in the most beautiful places.

🪨 Norwegian granite is tough.
Water has been carving shapes into it for thousands of years, like an artist’s chisel. That’s why every waterfall looks different — like nature’s signature.

When the sun began to slip behind the mountains, the waterfalls slowly quieted down.
The thunder turned into a soft echo and that distinct smell of wet air that’s hard to forget.
On the terrace of our little house it was already calm, and in our glasses Norwegian gold was shimmering 🍺 — the perfect ending to a day that gave us everything: adrenaline, awe, and a bit of mist in our hair.
We looked at the fjord fading into oranges and purples, and I thought that Norway has something truly special — it can exhaust you and soothe you at the same time 💛

And tomorrow?
It will be colder, whiter, and even more spectacular ❄️
Time for two glaciers that look like another world.

Two days with the Folgefonna Glacier — the southern and western walls of ice, footbridges over streams, and landscapes that look like another planet.

Because if waterfalls make noise…
glaciers have something even more powerful.
